I enjoy watching professional football. I'm a fan of the Game, and this is the time of the season when I'm in PigSkin Heaven!
Of course I have my favorite teams, ones that I've cheered for over many years. I have never limited myself to routing for only my area's 'home team'. I hail from the St. Louis, Missouri area, and well, the old St. Louis Cardinals rarely inspired worship, at least for me.
The year the Miami Dolphins went all the way, I was in the groove. Within my husband's and my sphere of friends and family, I became a bit of a legend that year. I was one focused gal! Our circle would make picks, for every game, and I was so 'on'! I well recall when Super Bowl was upon us, and against the odds, against all nay-sayers, I picked the Dolphins to win. 'Imposible!' was the cry that went out, 'It'll never happen!', 'No way!', were phrases I heard again and again. At the close of that season, I was 100%, in my picks. My husband still talks about my 'Golden Season'.
This year I've had a ball watching Brett Favre and my beloved Green Bay Packers, I've seen the Dallas Cowboys rear their silver helmeted heads once more, ( I'm a Terrel Owens fan! He has found a HOME!) been open-mouthed impressed with the San Diego Chargers, and have kept my eyes on those two Manning boys. I've been pulling for Eli, can't help it...you know, younger bro of super Peyton, talk about some pressure on E! I was up and doing my celebration dance, when the New York Giants won this past weekend. I must have shouted at the tv a dozen times or more, during the game, my cries aimed at the Giants' offensive line, 'Give him what he (Eli) needs! Hold 'em, hold 'em!' Then, shaking my fist at the Giants' defensive line, and telling them, 'Ya got this game, if ya want it! Just dig in and do it!'
What can I say about the Practically Perfect New England Patriots! They are so good, it's almost frightening. It's just great, as a fan of the game, to watch this team play. Are they gonna win the Super Bowl? Are they gonna go 'all the way'? I hope so. I hope the Practically Perfect Pats earn that 100% record.
