I was dismayed to read the front page of Eons and the "Booms" section to see it had been completely taken over by political manipulation of the "Boom" process.
I hope it dies a normal death, as most "new" things do, but sooner rather than later.

Weather in Minnesota
I'm getting to like Minnesota weather.
I don't have to board up my house, get on public transportation, and leave town with my valuables and important papers.
I don't have the anxiety of wondering if a storm will pop up out of nowhere, while I'm traveling, and level my house. I don't live in a sea of mud because Gustav pushed up the coast and soaked my home in Missouri.
I'm not living in New York, where the barometer dropped, the air became still, and torrential rains hit because of Hanna.
I know if I stay put in my house when it is 20 below zero, the temperature will eventually rise. I can buy enough clothes to waddle to the mail box and stay warm; I can also back the car down the driveway!
To live my life every year haunted by the threats of hurricanes and their possible damage would put me over the threshold of sanity!
Don't tell anyone what a great deal we have going!

Civil Disobedience in St. Paul
It was good to see that the people of the GREAT STATE of Minnesota still know how to protest!! Civil disobedience is the cornerstone of our nation!!!!
The Republicans talk of more drilling, NOW and proliferation of nuclear power! It will be the demise of our planet, if we do NOT get off the oil/gas habit REAL soon. AFFORDABLE Alternative Energy MUST be first and foremost, or the rest of the rhetoric is all just moot! If we do not address the poor stewardship we have shown the place where we reside, we will HEAR the clock ticking! And Nuclear power...okay, it would be great, if we did not have people trying to find a way to kill us all. And it may be great if we knew how to handle the bi-products....but we DON'T. In some of the mountains in New Mexico we have tons of this crap buried! Is that for generations to come to deal with?? We DO NOT need to create more problems we cannot resolve and must work on those we can. Geothermal, Wind and Sun IS the only way to go.
This is a plea to use sense, OVER making cents!!!
Minnesotians, thanks for caring and thanks for protesting the RNC. You folks ARE the best!!!!

adventure week 1
Well, it has been about a week of my new adventure. I have actually accomplished somethings on my list. I finished the rug I had sitting uncompleted for about a year, brought out my fall/winter clothing and sorted through everything. I have a good sized bag for Goodwill already. I started on another closet too. Why do we keep all that junk?
I was able to go with a friend today to tour the BCA in St. Paul. Very interesting. I joked with my husband that we were going to go to the RNC to protest. He told me to bring my ID and money. I asked if he would bail me out and he told me to think of it as part of the adventure! Don't really need that kind of adventure in my life!
Looks like I have a part time job lined up so I don't become good friends with Maurie, Montel, Rachel Ray, Dr. Phil and Oprah! Tomorrow I am going to attack that closet again, maybe I will actually finish it. Then I am going to attack this desk....

MY LABOR DAY ADVENTURES
HI, I HAD NOT GONE HORSEBACK RIDING IN YRS...I FOUND A PLACE THAT COULD HELP ME GO SO I COULD TAKE MY G.DAUGHTER ON HER FIRST RIDE..HERE IS PIX OF PART OF THE CANYON WE RODE IN...IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. I AM PAYING DEARLY FOR IT, BUT IT WAS SO WORTH IT..THIS IS THE PRIVATE LAND NEAR SICA HOLLOW, SD..I HAVE MORE PIXS THAT ARE NOT DOWNLOADED TO MY PC...SO, I FOUND ONE TO SHOW AT PHOTOBUCKET..I HOPE ALL HAD A GREAT LABOR DAY, AND NOW THAT FALL IN UPON US THE GROUP WILL P.U. Wow -- I didn't realize that every station was going to broadcast directly from the RNC for every newscast! Good grief! Now I feel sorry for the Denver area.
And, of course, the media storm over the VP pick, the Senate seat race with the nasty ads and award-winning worst sounding voice overs, and I am ready to pull the plug.
But, the cool snap is welcome.
Under the beans in my garden I have found a giant squash...seriously, I never seen anything so big. It looks like a mega bottle of Chianti, except it is green, complete with the curve and the stem.
I think I'll foist it off on an unsuspecting family member!
