What are you doing to address the issues?

I asked this in reply to Scott's question about our readership, but it's worth asking again:

What have people been doing to support the Obama campaign, or our fundamental rights as US citizens, besides reading blogs?

Are we Boomers activists or what?

What is your defining issue this election?

Michael Moore said that the defining topic for his choice of presidential nominee was the War in Iraq. What is the defining issue for you all?

Alaska Secessionist Movement

The Alaska secessionist party that the Palins support reminds me of the "White Separatist Movement". The White Separatists want Washington State to secede from the Union and become a "whites only" or a "whites and Native-American" country.

I take it all back

I did not see or hear Palin's speech to the convention of Grampa's Old Party, but now that I've seen it, I take back all of the nasty things I said:

CAN WE TRUST OUR ELECTIONS?

This gentleman has created a film entitled Free For All about Karl Rove's machinations in 2000 and 2004. He, also believes that Rove is attempting the same now.

CAN WE TRUST OUR ELECTIONS?

HOME

My name is John. Since I was a kid, I have been a proud American.

But after questionable elections led to disastrous outcomes for my country, I felt I had to find out if our process of electing leaders was secure.

The evidence I came across showed not just efforts to steal votes at the polls, but to systematically block millions of Americans from even casting a vote. When some people know they can’t win fairly, they’ll do everything they can to cheat.

This investigation led me on a journey throughout Ohio, the pivotal swing state that decided the last presidential election. I met politicians, activists, election officials, journalists, attorneys, party leaders, a lot of cool locals who helped me shoot it all, and Jerry Springer.

My hope is that this will help everyone understand how our elections are really going down, right now in 2008, right here in America.

Voting is not enough anymore. (though a huge turnout is key)

As I found out, the 2008 election has already been stolen: We need to swipe it back.

Is anyone reading these posts?

Hi. Just a general question as to whether people are reading these posts, since only a few people post up, comments are few and from a limited number of regulars and the group is not that large.

Heck, I won't bother anymore if no one is interested.

If you read these, can we ask for a simply click / reply / comment?

Diebold's Political Machine

Commentary: Political insiders suggest Ohio could become as decisive this year as Florida was four years ago. Which is why the state's plan to use paperless touch-screen voting machines has so many up in arms.

By Bob Fitrakis and Harvey Wasserman

March 5, 2004

That label sounds ominously accurate to the many who are skeptical of computerized voting. In addition to being as decisive as the 2000 polling in Florida, they worry this year's vote in Ohio could be just as flawed. Specifically, they worry that it could be rigged. And they wonder why state officials seem so unconcerned by the fact that the two companies in line to sell touch-screen voting machines to Ohio have deep and continuing ties to the Republican Party. Those companies, Ohio's own Diebold Election Systems and Election Systems & Software of Nebraska, are lobbying fiercely ahead of a public hearing on the matter in Columbus next week.

Troopergate

Barracuda Palin is already in hot water in Alaska. Seems she is being investigated for "overstepping her authority" in the interests of her sister. Said sister was involved in a "messy divorce" a few years back and as soon as Palin took office she was all over the Public Safety Commissioner to fire the state cop her sis had been married to, as a retaliatory measure. The Commish refused to do so and now a full investigation is underway, headed up by a Democrat. Needless to say, the R's are not happy about this and are trying to get the Democrat kicked out as the lead investigator, probably projecting how they would behave given the same circumstances. It would really be funny if all this cut down on her ability to travel and campaign. They are estimating that the investigation will be concluded sometime in October. Stay tuned.
