Photographing Children by SueBloom

Posted 7 days ago

This posting was sparked by the topic of Photographing Children by Beadbabe. You will notice in her post that she complains of “shutter lag”, a common complaint with some digital cameras. By the time she gets her grandson in focus, the camera takes too long to actually release the shutter and she misses the shot.

Short of buying a more expensive camera what can she do? Our member, Shutterart, suggested pre-focusing on an area before the child gets to that spot. That is certainly a good tactic. Pre-focus on an area where you will lure the youngster in a few moments. Maybe place a favorite t...

I don't know what I liked best

A trip to Yellowstone can be a fabulous experience but deciding what's most enjoyable is difficult.

Is it . . .

Hi

After being aware of the group for some time, I just joined.
I've owned 35mm cameras since 1965 and have had a digital (Canon A720) for a couple of years.
I look forward to learning from the group and also contributing pictures and help whenever possible.

My Photography

Hello Everyone! My passion is photography. I started about 12 yrs ago in N.H. my home state. My son Aaron is a professional photographer and he was my inspiration to start with but since then I have opened many doors to this wonderful hobby, pastime, profession, and yes, it has turned out to be my spare time profession. I started, way back when, by doing a wedding for a friend and from then on, the wedding photography became my life. I really enjoy doing weddings because everyone is so happy and beautiful... especially the children, and yes, the bride and groom. I also do portraits and family reunions and I've also done plenty of music groups and even a CD cover. How much fun is this? I enjoy every minute of it and I am always learning more. You never stop learning with photography. Sometimes a very simple picture can be very very special.
I am very new on this site and I am not sure yet what this is all about but I am anxious to learn. Hope you all have a Happy New Year. Tena

Hello fellow shooters

Just found this site via a mention on CNN. I've been doing b&w photography since undergraduate days, but I've put the Nikon F100 away and shoot only a D70 now. As a computer geek, it's just so much easier to dodge and burn using Photoshop or Picture Window than by playing with my hands below an enlarger. I still love the finesse of film, but there is so much less control of the medium. I like landscape photography the best, with underwater a close second. (I'm a diver.) I have a few of my shots posted on a website: http://members.cox.net/k12lt. BMW motorcycle riders will recognize my ride! I live in the Phoenix metro area and love to shoot the desert, especially when the weather acts up like it's been doing lately. Hope to find some interesting threads here.
