Hello and welcome. My nickname, "Gruggers," was coined by a two-year-old granddaughter about nine years ago. We think it was her combination of "Grandpa" and "Doug." It really stuck, and I am "Gruggers" for the rest of my life.
My wife Sharon and I live along the Bitterroot River just south of Missoula, Montana. I have five children from a previous marriage and four grandchildren. Sharon has two adult sons and seven grandchildren.
I have a couple of blog sites and have been encouraged to list them here. If you are interested, I hope you enjoy.
Retired and Restless Doug's Blog Missoula Outside
I retired from the U.S. Navy in 1995. Then, after eleven years with the Missoula City Engineering Office, I again "retired" in March 2007. I am currently doing a lot of housework, yardwork, gardening, writing, and playing on Eons.
I completed 50,000 words on a novel during National Novel Writing Month (November 2007). I am also writing a memoir (perhaps a highly fictionalized version) that has been a goal for a long time. I also really enjoy photography and hope to become proficient enough to enter something in next year's County Fair! Whoopa dee doo. What a hick!
